{"id":10392,"date":"2010-10-05T10:25:35","date_gmt":"2010-10-05T17:25:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=10392"},"modified":"2010-10-05T10:25:35","modified_gmt":"2010-10-05T17:25:35","slug":"stewart-tng-could-have-had-fifth-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2010\/10\/stewart-tng-could-have-had-fifth-movie\/","title":{"rendered":"Stewart: TNG Could Have Had Fifth Movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If all had gone well, there could have been another<em> Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em> film after <em>Star Trek: Nemesis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>While <em>Nemesis<\/em> was being filmed, another film was being planned that would have involved more than <em>The Next Generation<\/em> according to <strong>Sir Patrick Stewart<\/strong>. &#8220;While we were filming<em> Nemesis <\/em>an idea was being developed by <strong>John Logan<\/strong>, the screenwriter of <em>Nemesis<\/em>, and <strong>Brent Spiner<\/strong> for a fifth and final movie,&#8221; said Stewart. &#8220;It was a very exciting idea for a screenplay.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Stewart02022010.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10394\" title=\"Stewart02022010\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Stewart02022010.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"142\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>&#8220;It would have been a real farewell to <em>Next Generation<\/em>, but it would have involved other historic aspects of <em>Star Trek<\/em> as well,&#8221; said Stewart. &#8220;I can&#8217;t go into details because the project wasn&#8217;t mine. When that didn&#8217;t happen, the studio announced in its own inimitable way that we were suffering from franchise fatigue and that there was to be no more, and I am absolutely content with that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stewart has no desire to revisit <em>The Next Generation<\/em>. &#8220;I remain very proud of the work we did,&#8221; he said, &#8220;very proud of the series and the movies, but I do not wish to return to it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At the 2010 Creation Official <em>Star Trek<\/em> convention in Las Vegas, Stewart surprised <strong>William Shatner<\/strong> and <strong>Leonard Nimoy<\/strong> by joining them onstage. &#8220;I felt that a real honor was being bestowed on me because these are the guys that created it all,&#8221; he said. &#8220;These are the living legends of <em>Star Trek.<\/em> They also happen to be two men who I&#8217;ve grown to like very much. I know Bill more than I do Leonard, but I admire and like both of them.
