{"id":11173,"date":"2011-01-21T13:04:09","date_gmt":"2011-01-21T21:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=11173"},"modified":"2011-01-21T13:05:12","modified_gmt":"2011-01-21T21:05:12","slug":"star-trek-the-exhibition-debuts-in-louisville-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2011\/01\/star-trek-the-exhibition-debuts-in-louisville-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Star Trek: The Exhibition Debuts In Louisville Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Star Trek: The Exhibition<\/em> will open at the Louisville Science Center in Kentucky on Sunday, January 23.<\/p>\n<p>A special event, <em>Science With a Twist: An Evening Aboard The Enterprise<\/em>, will be held for fans the night before the opening at 7 PM, with Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager&#8217;s EMH) making a special appearance.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Picardo092810.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-11174\" title=\"Picardo092810\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Picardo092810.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"152\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The event is nearly sold out, with limited tickets still available for the $100 Commander level. The Fan Club level tickets (sold out), priced at $25, will give fans in attendance at <em>Science With a Twist: An Evening Aboard the Enterprise:<\/em> a complimentary Star Trek cocktail, light desserts and entrance to the exhibit. The $100 Fan Club level ticket includes all of that plus a strolling dinner, phaser tag, entertainment and valet parking. There will be a cash bar at the event. There is also a $250 and a $2500 ticket level, with the latter offering ten tickets to the event.<\/p>\n<p>Picardo will be signing autographs at <em>Science With a Twist: An Evening Aboard the Enterpris<\/em>e and will also make a special appearance on opening day of <em>Star Trek: The Exhibition<\/em> at 1 PM, where his autograph can be obtained for $20.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/STTECapChair012111.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11175\" title=\"STTECapChair012111\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/STTECapChair012111.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Star Trek: The Exhibition<\/em>, locally produced by AT&amp;T, features: sets, costumes, museum pieces and props from all five Star Trek television series and from all of the Star Trek movies. Fans can sit in Captain Kirk&#8217;s chair (original series) and explore different themes at The Exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The themes include: Exploration, a history of the <em>Star Trek<\/em> story, which includes original models, costumes and props; Health Innovation, which features medical equipment, props and costumes; Communication, which features a reproduction of the Transporter Room; and Space Travel, which features set pieces from <em>Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em> and ship models from the Federation (including Vulcan) and the Klingon Empire.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/STTETransporter012111.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11176\" title=\"STTETransporter012111\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/STTETransporter012111.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Star Trek: The Exhibition<\/em> is $18 for adults and $14 for children aged 2-12. This price also includes admission to the Science Center&#8217;s permanent exhibits. Note that photos are not permitted inside <em>The Exhibition<\/em>.
