{"id":12756,"date":"2011-08-22T10:28:25","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T17:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=12756"},"modified":"2011-08-22T10:28:25","modified_gmt":"2011-08-22T17:28:25","slug":"ds9-director-badiyi-passes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2011\/08\/ds9-director-badiyi-passes\/","title":{"rendered":"DS9 Director Badiyi Passes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Reza Badiyi<\/strong>, director of several <em>Star Trek: Deep Space Nine<\/em> episodes, passed away this weekend at the age of 81 due to medical complications.<\/p>\n<p>Badiyi directed episodes of many television classics, including <em>The Doris Day Show, Mission: Impossible, Mannix, Baretta, The Rockford Files, Hawaii Five-O<\/em>, and the <em>Mary Tyler Moore Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Badiyi082211.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12757\" title=\"Badiyi082211\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Badiyi082211.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><em>Deep Space Nine<\/em> episodes directed by Badiyi include five from the third and fourth seasons of the show: <em>Civil Defense, Past Tense Part 1, Life Support, Visionary<\/em> and <em>Paradise Lost<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Over almost six decades, Badiyi directed over 430 television episodes as well as several films.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was a proud Iranian-American and was very involved in the community,&#8221; said publicist <strong>Bita Milanian<\/strong>. &#8220;He was a true Iranian at heart and could recite Iranian poetry like no other.
