Christopher Plummer<\/strong>, best known to Star Trek<\/em> fans as General Chang in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country<\/em>, won an Oscar last night at the 84th Annual Academy Awards.<\/p>\n

The Oscar, for Best Supporting Actor, was for Plummer’s role in Beginners<\/em>, where he played an elderly widower who comes out of the closet after the death of his wife.<\/p>\n

This was Plummer’s first Oscar win in a sixty-year long career.<\/p>\n

“You’re only two years older than me, darling,” said Plummer to the 84-year-old Oscar. “Where have you been all my life?”<\/p>\n

Competition for the Best Supporting Oscar included Kenneth Branagh<\/strong> (My Week With Marilyn<\/em>), Jonah Hill<\/strong> (Moneyball<\/em>), Nick Nolte<\/strong> (Warrior<\/em>) and Max von Sydow<\/strong> (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Plummer was congratulated by William Shatner<\/strong>, who played his adversary in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country<\/em>. “Congratulations to my dear friend Christopher Plummer for his win tonight!” said Shatner via Twitter. “My best, Bill.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
