Star Trek 2′<\/em>s Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong> will be joining the cast of 12 Years a Slave<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Directed by Steve McQueen<\/strong>, 12 Years a Slave<\/em> is based on an 1853 non-fiction book by Solomon Northrup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

12 Years a Slave<\/em> is the story of Northrup, a free black man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery, ending up on a Louisiana plantation.<\/p>\n

Cumberbatch will play the plantation owner who buys the slave, and who is “won over by his engineering skills.”<\/p>\n

Others set to appear in 12 Years a Slave<\/em> include: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender<\/strong> and Brad Pitt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

12 years a Slave<\/em> is expected to be released next year.<\/p>\n
