The ever-busy Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong> will be appearing in an adaptation of Ford Madox Ford<\/strong>‘s Parade’s End<\/em> series of novels.<\/p>\n

Cumberbatch will be portraying cuckolded husband Christopher Tietjens<\/strong>, in the drama which begins in the years before World War I.<\/p>\n

Cumberbatch seemed like an easy casting choice, but the actor was relatively unknown when the BBC\/HBO series was being cast and HBO was hesitant. “Who is this Benedict Cumberbatch?” they asked.<\/p>\n

“Trust us, he’s a truly great actor and by the time Parade’s End<\/em> has come out everyone will have heard of him,” said Director Susanna White<\/strong>. “And of course, now everyone in America has heard of him.”<\/p>\n

Parade’s End<\/em> is the story of a love triangle between Christopher Tietjens, conservative English aristocrat (Cumberbatch), his adulterous socialite wife Sylvia (Rebecca Hall<\/strong>) and Valentine, a young “spirited” suffragette played by Adelaide Clemens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
