{"id":23951,"date":"2013-03-14T09:29:42","date_gmt":"2013-03-14T16:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=23951"},"modified":"2013-03-14T09:29:42","modified_gmt":"2013-03-14T16:29:42","slug":"space-seed-lost-scenes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2013\/03\/space-seed-lost-scenes\/","title":{"rendered":"Space Seed Lost Scenes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23954\" title=\"Khan031413\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Khan031413.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Going through the papers of <em>Star Trek<\/em> Writer\/Director <strong>Nicholas Meyer<\/strong>, college professors <strong>John<\/strong> and <strong>Maria Jose Tenuto<\/strong> uncovered plenty of behind-the-scenes information from <em>Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan<\/em> that has not been released to the public.<\/p>\n<p>A further search through UCLA archival materials uncovered information about lost scenes, both filmed and unfilmed, for the original series&#8217; <em>Space Seed<\/em> episode.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The duo, <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans themselves, sometimes includes<em> Star Trek<\/em>-related material in their sociology classes, and found the material when they decided to expand their search beyond the Meyers papers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Space Seed<\/em> may be the most important episode of the original show,&#8221; said John Tenuto. &#8220;If there was no <em>Space Seed<\/em>, there would be no <em>Wrath of Khan<\/em> and if it weren&#8217;t for <em>Wrath of Khan<\/em> being successful, there would be no more <em>Star Trek<\/em>. Because while the first <em>Star Trek<\/em> movie was commercially successful, it was very expensive and a lot of fans weren&#8217;t happy with it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lost scenes discovered included a scene that was intended for <em>Space Seed<\/em>, but would ultimately end up in <em>The Wrath of Khan<\/em>.
