{"id":24368,"date":"2013-04-02T10:59:59","date_gmt":"2013-04-02T17:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=24368"},"modified":"2013-04-02T10:59:59","modified_gmt":"2013-04-02T17:59:59","slug":"trek-fan-record-falls-short","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2013\/04\/trek-fan-record-falls-short\/","title":{"rendered":"Trek Fan Record Falls Short"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24371\" title=\"ShatnerTexas040213\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/ShatnerTexas040213.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A group of fans in Dallas failed to break the Guinness World Record for people dressed as <em>Star Trek<\/em> characters.<\/p>\n<p>The fans were attending a Texas Lottery event where the draws were the appearance of <strong>William Shatner<\/strong> as host of the event, and the attempt to set the world record.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Shatner appeared at the Dallas Convention Center to help unveil a new <em>Star Trek<\/em> scratch-off lottery game. &#8220;Those few dollars added to a few others go to a great purpose,&#8221; he said of the new game. &#8220;So you might win a lot of money&#8230; but if you don&#8217;t, you&#8217;ve put a little money into a bank account, which is the children of Texas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The world record of 1,063 fans dressed as <em>Star Trek<\/em> characters was set last year in London.
