A new science fiction museum will be opened in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

Although the sci-fi museum won’t open until 2017, a “preview space” for the museum will open next year.<\/p>\n

The museum will cover a “broad sampling of science fiction across literature, television, film, music, video games and art.”<\/p>\n

“There really wasn’t a comprehensive science-fiction museum here in the United States or internationally,” said Greg Viggiano<\/strong>, executive director of the new venture. “I thought, maybe somebody should do something about this.”<\/p>\n

The museum will feature seven galleries, which will include “the creators, vehicles, time travel concepts, aliens, computers, robots and technology.”<\/p>\n

The museum content will start with Frankenstein author Mary Shelley<\/strong>, considered by many the first sci-fi author, and run through to present-day material, including Star Trek<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Some materials have already been promised for loan to the museum, including the Enterprise E model from Star Trek: Insurrection<\/em>.<\/p>\n
