Star Trek into Darkness<\/em> Director J.J. Abrams<\/strong> was awarded an International Emmy<\/em> last night at the 41st International Emmy Awards Gala<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The International Emmy Awards<\/em> are given to the best television programs produced, and initially aired, outside of the U.S.<\/p>\n

Zachary Quinto<\/strong> presented the International Emmy Founders Award<\/em> to Abrams, who said “I feel genuinely grateful. It’s a privilege to work in the television medium.”<\/p>\n

The International Emmy Founders Award<\/em> is given to an individual who has “crossed cultural boundaries to touch audiences’ common humanity.”<\/p>\n

“The International Emmy Awards<\/em> is the premiere global platform for the world’s best television programming and performances,” said Academy President Bruce L. Paisner<\/strong>. “We congratulate tonight’s winners for their outstanding achievements and for inspiring audiences worldwide with their great work.”<\/p>\n

The 41st International Emmy Awards<\/em> were presented last night at an event hosted by John Oliver<\/strong> at the New York Hilton in New York City.<\/p>\n
