{"id":31055,"date":"2013-12-02T12:29:48","date_gmt":"2013-12-02T20:29:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=31055"},"modified":"2013-12-02T12:29:48","modified_gmt":"2013-12-02T20:29:48","slug":"abrams-star-trek-into-darkness-regrets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2013\/12\/abrams-star-trek-into-darkness-regrets\/","title":{"rendered":"Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness Regrets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31058\" alt=\"AbramsSTID-120213\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/AbramsSTID-120213.gif\" width=\"580\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If Abrams could change something about <em>Star Trek into Darkness<\/em>, fans would have been a little less in the dark.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <em>MTV<\/em>, Abrams claimed that keeping information back from the audience wasn&#8217;t his idea, but the studio&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;The truth is, I think it probably would have been smarter just to say upfront &#8216;This is who it is,'&#8221; said Abrams, referring to keeping Harrison&#8217;s true identity secret. &#8220;It was only trying to preserve the fun of it, and it might have given more time to acclimate and accept that&#8217;s what the thing was.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The studio didn&#8217;t want word to get out, because they wanted more people to come see the film, not just Trekkies. &#8220;The truth is because it was so important to the studio that we not angle this thing for existing fans,&#8221; said Abrams. &#8220;If we said it was Khan, it would feel like you&#8217;ve really got to know what<em> Star Trek<\/em> is about to see this movie.
