Canadian Star Trek<\/em> fan Line Rainville<\/strong> is living her Star Trek<\/em> dream.<\/p>\n Rainville, a fan of the original series since childhood, decided to recreate part of the Trek world, beginning in her basement.<\/p>\n The project took a year to complete, and cost $30,000. The Trek-themed areas include parts of the Enterprise bridge, transporter room, rec room, observation deck, and Spock’s quarters.<\/p>\n “I was nine when I first watched Star Trek<\/em> in French with my father,” said Rainville, who hails from Notre-Dame-des-Prairies (Quebec). “I became addicted to this show and during the week, and I looked forward to each Tuesday at seven for another episode.<\/p>\n “I enjoyed Star Trek<\/em> because it was about space, unknown worlds, and aliens who often ended up being more friendly than expected. I enjoyed learning about Vulcans and seeing the interactions between the characters.”<\/p>\n Rainville bought some of the items used in the Trek-themed rooms, and made others herself. When finished, the fifty-one-year-old felt like that young nine-year-old again. “I was kind of beamed back into that nine-year-old girl’s mind who so often wished her beloved Captain Kirk could bring her aboard his vessel,” Rainville said. “All at once, I was aboard the Enterprise. The illusion had become my reward. I told my mother and my sister that it was so strange. I’m not sure they have fully understood how I was feeling.
