A politician resigning isn’t always news, but David Waddell<\/strong> from North Carolina made it news with his resignation letter.<\/p>\n

Waddell, who was on the Indian Trail Town Council, penned his resignation letter in the Klingon language. Indian Trail is near Charlotte, North Carolina.<\/p>\n

The letter, accompanied by a translation, was in “inside joke,” said Waddell. “Folks don’t know what to think of me half the time,” said Waddell, “so I might as well have one last laugh [on the board].”<\/p>\n

The board was not amused, with Mayor Michael Alvarez<\/strong> calling the letter unprofessional. “It’s an embarrassment for Indian Trail, and it’s an embarrassment for North Carolina,” he said.<\/p>\n

Waddell’s resignation, which takes effect at month end, is due to his frustration with the council.<\/p>\n
