Star Trek into Darkness<\/em>‘ Chris Pine<\/strong> is in talks for a starring role on a Coast Guard drama.<\/p>\n The drama, The Finest Hours,<\/em> is based on a real life rescue that took place in 1952.<\/p>\n Based on a book by Casey Sherman <\/strong>and Michael J. Touglas<\/strong>, The Finest Hours<\/em> is the story of the 1952 rescue off the coast of New England by the Coast Guard after a “brutal nor’easter” struck the area. “In the early hours of Monday, February 18, while the storm raged, two oil tankers, the Pendleton <\/em>and the Fort Merce<\/em>r, found themselves in the same horrifying predicament. Built with ‘dirty steel,’ and not prepared to withstand such ferocious seas, both tankers split in two, leaving the dozens of men on board utterly at the Atlantic’s mercy. The Finest Hours<\/em> is the gripping, true story of the valiant attempt to rescue the souls huddling inside the broken halves of the two ships.<\/p>\n “Not all of the eighty-four men caught at sea in the midst of that brutal storm survived, but considering the odds, it’s a miracle\u2014and a testament to their bravery\u2014that any came home to tell their tales at all.”<\/p>\n Walt Disney Pictures<\/em> is hoping to sign Craig Gillespie<\/strong> to direct, and Jim Whitaker<\/strong> will produce.
