Star Trek into Darkness<\/em>‘ Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong> will be replacing Guy Pearce<\/strong> in Black Mass<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Pearce left the project due to scheduling issues.<\/p>\n

Black Mass<\/em> is the story of Irish mobster Whitey Bulger, <\/strong>his brother Billy, FBI Agent John Connolly<\/strong> and the FBI’s witness protection program. The movie is based on the book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Cumberbatch will take on the role of Billy Bulger<\/strong>, Whitey’s “law-abiding brother and a Massachusetts State Senator.” Whitey will be played by Johnny Depp<\/strong>, and Connolly will be played by Joel Edgerton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The real-life Whitey Bulger is currently serving a double life term plus five years, while Connolly is serving forty years in prison.<\/p>\n
