{"id":35138,"date":"2014-07-16T10:13:39","date_gmt":"2014-07-16T17:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=35138"},"modified":"2014-07-16T10:14:42","modified_gmt":"2014-07-16T17:14:42","slug":"cho-as-romantic-lead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2014\/07\/cho-as-romantic-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Cho As Romantic Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35141\" alt=\"ChoSelfiePic071614\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/ChoSelfiePic071614.gif\" width=\"580\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Star Trek into Darkness<\/em>&#8216; <strong>John Cho<\/strong> will be playing an unfamiliar role this autumn, that of the romantic lead.<\/p>\n<p>Cho will co-star with<strong> Karen Gillan<\/strong> in<em> Selfie<\/em>, a modern remake of <em>Pygmalion<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Playing the romantic lead is definitely different for the actor, best known as Sulu in <em>Star Trek<\/em>, or stoner Harold Lee in <em>Harold &amp; Kumar Go To White Castle<\/em>. &#8220;I would call this revolutionary,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s certainly a personal revolution for me.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Asians narratively in shows are insignificant. They&#8217;re the cop, or the waitress, or whatever it is. You see them in the background.
