Kirk takes command of the USS Enterprise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re in a time period where there isn&#8217;t any<em> Star Trek<\/em> on TV, and people are looking for opportunities,\u201d said Producer\/Creator <strong>Alec Peters<\/strong>, who also plays Garth of Izar in the movie. &#8220;For a lot of <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans, the <strong>J.J. Abrams<\/strong> films are not<em> Star Trek<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Kickstarter<\/em> project for <em>Axanar<\/em> met its original funding goal, and raised more than $100,000. The producers hope to raise another $250,000.<\/p>\n<p>Set in the familiar <em>Star Trek<\/em> universe, <em>Prelude to Axanar<\/em> touches upon the difficulties of &#8220;mental illness, the scars or war, and the impossibility, even centuries in the future, of creating a perfect society.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For those attending <em>San Diego Comic-Con<\/em>, the <em>Prelude to Axanar<\/em> screening will take place at the United Artists Horton Plaza 8 Movie Theater, a short distance from the <em>San Diego Convention Center<\/em>.
