{"id":35888,"date":"2014-08-18T11:39:26","date_gmt":"2014-08-18T18:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=35888"},"modified":"2014-08-18T11:39:26","modified_gmt":"2014-08-18T18:39:26","slug":"trek-stars-take-on-ice-bucket-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2014\/08\/trek-stars-take-on-ice-bucket-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Trek Stars Take On Ice Bucket Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35891\" alt=\"ALSChallenge081814\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ALSChallenge081814.gif\" width=\"580\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Several <em>Star Trek<\/em> actors have taken on the &#8220;ice bucket challenge&#8221; to raise money for <em>Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis<\/em> (<em>ALS &#8211; Lou Gehrig&#8217;s Disease<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>William Shatner was the first Trek actor to do so, as seen in a video posted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.treknews.net\/2014\/08\/16\/william-shatner-ice-bucket-challenge\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Now several <em>The Next Generation<\/em> actors have taken on the challenge. <strong>Brent Spiner<\/strong> was challenged by his friend. &#8220;I have accepted the ALS Ice-Bucket Challenge from my friend <strong>Ramon de Ocampo<\/strong>,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I&#8217;d also like to take the opportunity before I get dunked to challenge my friends:<strong> Armin Shimerman, Kitty Swink<\/strong>.
