{"id":38063,"date":"2014-11-25T09:30:37","date_gmt":"2014-11-25T17:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=38063"},"modified":"2014-11-25T09:30:37","modified_gmt":"2014-11-25T17:30:37","slug":"trek-actors-in-war-of-the-worlds-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2014\/11\/trek-actors-in-war-of-the-worlds-fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"Trek Actors In War Of The Worlds Fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38066\" alt=\"WoTW-112514\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/WoTW-112514.gif\" width=\"580\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In January, actors from all five of the <em>Star Trek<\/em> televised series will take part in a <em>War of the Worlds<\/em> fundraiser at the <em>Acme Theater<\/em> in Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>The one-night only performance will raise funds for <em>Sci-Fest LA: The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;<strong>Wil Wheaton<\/strong> will headline as &#8216;<strong>Orson Welles<\/strong>&#8216; alongside fellow <em>Star Trek<\/em> alumni <strong>Walter Koenig, Michael Dorn, Ren\u00e9 Auberjonois, Armin Shimerman, Tim Russ<\/strong>, and <strong>Linda Park<\/strong>. Also appearing: <strong>Dean Haglund<\/strong> (<em>The X-Files<\/em>) and a special prerecorded cameo appearance by comic book legend, <strong>Stan Lee<\/strong>. The performance will be produced by <em>Sci-Fest LA<\/em> and directed by <strong>Jim Fall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The idea for the fundraiser came from <em>Sci-Fest LA<\/em> co-producer, actor <strong>David Dean Bottrell<\/strong> (<em>Boston Legal<\/em>).&#8217;Even after seventy-six years, the original script for <em>War of the Worlds<\/em> is still chilling and beautifully written,&#8221; he said. &#8216;We are tremendously honored to have such an extraordinary company of actors performing it live on stage. And as a lifelong <em>Star Trek<\/em> fan, I&#8217;m speechless. This is going to be an amazing night for sci-fi fans!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Following the performance, audience members can attend a post-show party and bid on seven exclusive <em>War of the Worlds<\/em> posters designed specifically for this event by some of LA&#8217;s hottest comic book and sci-fi artists.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tickets for the event are currently available for donors contributing to the festival at the <em>Shooting Star<\/em> level or higher and includes an after-party with the cast.
