During a recent interview, J.J. Abrams<\/strong> explained how Simon Pegg<\/strong> became one of the writers on Star Trek 3<\/em>.<\/p>\n

At an interview during the recent VES Awards<\/em>, Abrams spoke mostly about Star Wars<\/em>, but touched briefly on Star Trek 3<\/em> and Pegg.<\/p>\n

“[Pegg] and I had talked quite a bit about story, he had a lot of wonderful ideas,” said Abrams. “It just sort of felt obvious that he would be a wonderful person to work on the story and help craft the story, so he’s working on it.”<\/p>\n

As for the story, last year, Roberto Orci<\/strong> explained that the characters in Star Trek (2009)<\/em> “weren’t the characters they were in the original series,”, but “They were growing into them and that continue[d] on in the second movie. So in this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space.”<\/p>\n
