Zo\u00eb Saldana<\/strong> is not joining the boycott against fashion designers Domenico Dolce<\/strong> and Stefano Gabbana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The designers, who are themselves gay, caused a firestorm last week when they gave an interview to a magazine saying that they opposed gay couples having families of their own.<\/p>\n “You are born to a mother and a father, or at least that\u2019s how it should be,\u201d Mr. Dolce said in the interview. “I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog.”<\/p>\n “I’m gay; I cannot have a child,\u201d said Dolce. “Life has its natural course, there are things that must not be changed. And one of these is the family.”<\/p>\n “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one,” said Gabbana.<\/p>\n Reaction to the interview was swift, with Elton John<\/strong> leading the way. “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic,'” he said. “Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana<\/em> ever again.”<\/p>\n Other stars joining the boycott included Ellen DeGeneres <\/strong>and Ricky Martin<\/strong>. But Saldana will not be taking part in the boycott. “That would be the stupidest thing, if it affected my fashion choice,” she said. “People are allowed to their own opinion. However, I wouldn’t have chosen to be so public about something that’s such a personal thing.
