Kate Mulgrew<\/strong> is to receive one of the three awards given out at this year’s Stella By Starlight Gala<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Stella By Starlight<\/em> annual event raises funds for the Stella Adler Studio of Acting<\/em> which trains young artists including low-income inner-city New York City teenagers.<\/p>\n

Mulgrew will receive the Stella Adler Award<\/em> for “consummate artistic achievement and interpretation.”<\/p>\n

Trained by Stella Adler<\/strong> herself, Mulgrew credits Adler with having “changed my life. I was seventeen years old. I’d just come from London. I studied with her in conjunction with New York University. I was the youngest member of her master class, the last one she taught.”<\/p>\n

Other honorees include Ethan Hawke<\/strong>, who will receive the Brando Award<\/em> for “excellence in the arts and a life devoted to social engagement,” and John Patrick Shanley<\/strong>, who will receive the Group Theater Award<\/em> for “prolific achievement in theater, film and television arts and community and social commitment.”<\/p>\n

The Stella by Starlight 10th Anniversary Gala<\/em> will take place May 11 at 7 PM at the Prince George Ballroom<\/em> in New York City.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
