The Town of Vulcan will pay tribute to Leonard Nimoy<\/strong> this weekend.<\/p>\n Although not named after Star Trek<\/em>‘s Vulcan, the town gradually built its tourism industry on Star Trek.<\/em><\/p>\n “The Town, Tourism and our fans all figured that was a real good way to say goodbye to a man that was so good to our Town,” said Shannon Clarke<\/strong>, Vulcan Tourism<\/em>‘s assistant administrator. “It’ll almost be the five year anniversary (since his visit). It was amazing. It really helped put Vulcan on the map that day and helped get us a license with CBS<\/em> to be the Star Trek<\/em> Capital of Canada as well.”<\/p>\n The mayor of Vulcan, Tom Grant<\/strong>, and former Vulcan Tourism<\/em> Coordinator, Dayna Dickens<\/strong>, will be in attendance at the event, which takes place Saturday, April 25 at 2 PM at the Cultural Recreation Centre<\/em> in Vulcan.<\/p>\n There will be a “special presentation,” and organizers of the memorial tribute will “show a video in Nimoy’s honor.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Town of Vulcan will pay tribute to Leonard Nimoy this weekend.
