The opening date on Broadway for George Takei<\/strong>‘s Allegiance \u2013 A New American Musical<\/em> has been announced.<\/p>\n Tickets for the event went on sale last Friday.<\/p>\n “In Allegiance \u2013 A New American Musical<\/em>, the sixtieth anniversary of Pearl Harbor [brings] a meeting with a young journalist, [which] forces World War II veteran Sam Kimura [Takei] to remember his family’s relocation from their California farm to the Heart Mountain<\/em> internment camp in Wyoming. As they struggle to adjust to their new home, Young Sam [Telly Leung<\/strong>] and his sister Kei [Lea Salonga<\/strong>] find themselves torn between loyalty to their family and allegiance to their country. With its moving score, Allegiance \u2014 A New American Musical<\/em> takes audiences on a journey into our nation\u2019s history through the eyes of one American family.”<\/p>\n Joining Takei, Salonga, and Leung will be Katie Rose Clarke<\/strong> (Hannah Campbell), Michael K. Lee<\/strong> (Frankie Suzuki), Christopheren Nomura<\/strong> (Tatsuo Kimura), and Greg Watanabe<\/strong> (Mike Masaoka).<\/p>\n Allegiance \u2013 A New American Musical<\/em> will begin previews Oct. 6 at the Longacre Theatre<\/em> at 220 West 48th Street.
