Chris Pine<\/strong>, best-known to Trek fans as Captain Kirk, will be playing a new captain in The Finest Hours<\/em>.<\/p>\n A trailer for the survival drama has just been released.<\/p>\n Based on a book by Casey Sherman<\/strong> and Michael J. Tougias<\/strong>, The Finest Hours<\/em> is the story of the 1952 rescue off the coast of New England by the Coast Guard after a “brutal nor’easter” struck the area. “In the early hours of Monday, February 18, while the storm raged, two oil tankers, the Pendleton<\/em> and the Fort Mercer<\/em>, found themselves in the same horrifying predicament. Built with ‘dirty steel,’ and not prepared to withstand such ferocious seas, both tankers split in two, leaving the dozens of men on board utterly at the Atlantic’s mercy. The Finest Hours<\/em> is the gripping, true story of the valiant attempt to rescue the souls huddling inside the broken halves of the two ships.<\/p>\n “Not all of the eighty-four men caught at sea in the midst of that brutal storm survived, but considering the odds, it’s a miracle\u2014and a testament to their bravery\u2014that any came home to tell their tales at all.”<\/p>\n Pine will be portraying Captain Webber, who leads a Coast Guard team sent out to rescue the survivors of a sinking oil tanker.<\/p>\n Another Trek actor will also be seen in The Finest Hours<\/em>. Eric Bana,<\/strong> who played Nero in Star Trek (2009)<\/em>, will play Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff, who orders the daring rescue.<\/p>\n The Finest Hours<\/em> will open in theaters on January 29, 2016.<\/p>\n
