George Takei<\/strong> has taken part in a Reddit AMA<\/em> (ask me anything), where he discussed his personal and his professional life.<\/p>\n

A topic of discussion was Allegiance<\/em>, which is currently running on Broadway. One of Takei’s biggest regrets in life was an incident in which he blamed his father for taking them to the internment camp for Japanese-Americans. By the time he felt able to apologize to his father, it was too late, as the elder man had passed away. Takei feels that one part of Allegiance<\/em> is aimed at his father. “Every night when I speak my final monologue,” he said, “it is an apology to my father.<\/p>\n

“Every night is a tribute to my father.”<\/p>\n

Often a guest on the Howard Stern<\/strong> show, Takei shared his favorite moment from the show. “Judging the most beautiful penis contest,” he said. “Brad didn’t talk to me for a week after that one.”<\/p>\n

And sometimes Brad gets angry when Takei disses him on the Howard Stern Show<\/em>. “I get the silent treatment for a while,” admitted Takei. “But it’s not as long as it used to be.”<\/p>\n

But when asked if he was happy, Brad was first on the list. “I’m happy,” said Takei, because I have Brad in my life; I get to perform Allegiance<\/em> eight times a week, and I’m in the center of the defining city of the 21st Century, New York City.<\/p>\n

Takei’s Facebook<\/em> feed is very popular and he was asked how much of it was him, and how much was done by others. “I have staffers who help me source and collect much of what is on my feed,” he explained. “Obviously it is too much for one person to handle. The commentary is mine.” Takei said later that he has four staffers helping out with his Facebook feed.<\/p>\n

Turning to Star Trek<\/em>, Takei told fans which co-worker on the original series was his favorite. “I enjoyed Jimmy Doohan<\/strong>,” he said. “He was a wonderful actor, down to earth friend, and a guy who taught me a lot about drinking.<\/p>\n

Takei also gave his opinion regarding the new Star Trek<\/em> television series. “It’s a great idea,” he said. “I’m eager to see what these imaginative futurists come up with.”<\/p>\n
