Abrams <\/strong>took part in a &#8220;celebrity nerd-off&#8221; with <strong>Stephen Colbert<\/strong> last weekend in New Jersey, and naturally the topic of Star Trek came up during the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>There was speculation before the movie was released regarding Khan&#8217;s presence in it and yet those involved in creating the movie were adamant that he would not be in it. Other fans wanted fresh, new stories, not a reworking of a story already done in a previous movie.<\/p>\n<p>The former Trek director is aware that some fans were dissatisfied with the story. &#8220;We got into trouble on the second <em>Star Trek<\/em> film with some of the fans,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There were too many nods to the <em>Wrath of Khan<\/em>.
