{"id":42786,"date":"2016-02-22T10:44:10","date_gmt":"2016-02-22T18:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=42786"},"modified":"2016-02-22T10:44:10","modified_gmt":"2016-02-22T18:44:10","slug":"caltech-star-trek-parody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2016\/02\/caltech-star-trek-parody\/","title":{"rendered":"Caltech Star Trek Parody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two brothers have written a family-friendly <em>Star Trek<\/em> musical.<\/p>\n<p>The musical, titled <em>Boldly Go!<\/em> will make its debut on February 26 at Caltech.<\/p>\n<p>The two brothers, <strong>Grant Remmen<\/strong> (who attends Caltech) and <strong>Cole Remmen<\/strong> decided to &#8220;combine their love of musical theater&#8221; with <em>Star Trek<\/em> after seeing <em>Star Trek into Darkness<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The result is a two-and-a-half hour musical, featuring nineteen songs. <em>Boldly Go!<\/em> &#8220;pokes fun at the tropes of <em>Star Trek<\/em> and musical comedies in general, with the crew of the Enterprise dealing with Klingons, Spock&#8217;s struggle with emotions, a chorus of short-lived redshirts and a mysterious threat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All sorts of mayhem happens,&#8221; said Cole Remmen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Boldly Go!<\/em> begins Friday February 26 and runs through March 5 at TACIT (Theater Arts at Caltech) in Pasadena.
