{"id":42840,"date":"2016-03-01T10:23:37","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T18:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=42840"},"modified":"2016-03-01T10:23:37","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T18:23:37","slug":"meyer-new-trek-series-will-be-different","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2016\/03\/meyer-new-trek-series-will-be-different\/","title":{"rendered":"Meyer: New Trek Series Will Be Different"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking recently with<em> Den of Geek<\/em>, <strong>Nicholas Meyer<\/strong> explained that the new <em>Star Trek<\/em> series will be going in a different direction.<\/p>\n<p>Meyer is hoping to write some of the episodes himself. &#8220;If I&#8217;m lucky,&#8221; he said, &#8220;I&#8217;ll get to write episodes. If I&#8217;m less lucky, I&#8217;ll just get to sit in that room with all those other clever people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As for the new show, Meyer wants to &#8220;go boldly where people haven&#8217;t gone before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think it&#8217;s going to be a different <em>Star Trek<\/em>,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;It will go in a different direction. And I think that is probably good. Because the thing that mainly troubles me about <em>Star Trek<\/em> is the fear of it being maybe re-treads of itself. And to the degree that I had any influence on the thing [<em>Star Trek<\/em>] at all was that at least while I was there, we were fooling around. And if you\u2019re not fooling around, then things can become stale. And I think that <strong>Bryan<\/strong> [<strong>Fuller<\/strong>] \u2014 who is a very clever fellow\u2014has ideas \u2014 some of which I\u2019ve heard \u2014 that are innovative and different.
