{"id":42917,"date":"2016-03-14T15:10:34","date_gmt":"2016-03-14T22:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=42917"},"modified":"2016-03-14T15:10:34","modified_gmt":"2016-03-14T22:10:34","slug":"wrath-of-khan-to-be-released-in-4k-ultra-high-def","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2016\/03\/wrath-of-khan-to-be-released-in-4k-ultra-high-def\/","title":{"rendered":"Wrath of Khan To Be Released in 4K Ultra High Def"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <strong>Nicholas Meyer<\/strong>, <em>Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan<\/em>, will be released in HDR in time for <em>Star Trek<\/em>&#8216;s fiftieth anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>Meyer announced the news on his <em>Facebook<\/em> page last month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have seen some sort of future and it&#8217;s pretty impressive,&#8221; said Meyer. &#8220;I was at the Technicolor Digital Lab today reviewing color for the forthcoming HDR version of <em>Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan<\/em>, commemorating the series&#8217; 50th anniversary next year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In terms of richness and clarity what I saw surpasses anything I can recall, though everyone will have to buy a new TV that is HDR compatible. Wouldn&#8217;t you know. Space turns out to be REALLY BLACK. HDR, incidentally, stands for High Dynamic Range. This stuff is measured in something called NITS (don&#8217;t ask), and whereas current delivery systems account for one or two hundred plus NITS, HDR is over a thousand.<\/p>\n<p>The wonder of it is, this all can be extracted from the original (cleaned up), film negative. It was always there, but delivery systems couldn&#8217;t project all that was there. Or words to that effect.
