{"id":43673,"date":"2016-06-19T11:34:17","date_gmt":"2016-06-19T18:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=43673"},"modified":"2016-06-19T12:52:50","modified_gmt":"2016-06-19T19:52:50","slug":"yelchin-passes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2016\/06\/yelchin-passes\/","title":{"rendered":"Yelchin Passes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a bit of rather shocking news,<strong> Anton Yelchin<\/strong>, best-known to Trek fans for his role as Chekov in the rebooted <em>Star Trek<\/em> movies, has died at the age of twenty-seven.<\/p>\n<p>The actor died in a freak car accident.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>TMZ<\/em>, friends became concerned when Yelchin didn&#8217;t meet them for a rehearsal and went to his San Fernando Valley home, late last night, where they found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox which was attached to a security gate. The car, on a steep driveway, was in neutral and the engine was still running.<\/p>\n<p>Yelchin&#8217;s representative <strong>Jennifer Allen<\/strong> confirmed the death. &#8220;Actor Anton Yelchin was killed in a fatal traffic collision early this morning,&#8221; she said. &#8220;His family requests you respect their privacy at this time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The only child of Russian professional figure skaters, Yelchin moved with his parents to the US when he was a baby.
