{"id":43759,"date":"2016-06-27T09:53:28","date_gmt":"2016-06-27T16:53:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=43759"},"modified":"2016-06-27T09:53:28","modified_gmt":"2016-06-27T16:53:28","slug":"uss-enterprise-moves-upstairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2016\/06\/uss-enterprise-moves-upstairs\/","title":{"rendered":"USS Enterprise Moves Upstairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After an extensive restoration, the <em>USS Enterprise<\/em> model is moving from the basement of the <em>Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum<\/em> to the main floor tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been brought into the light because over time, its historical significance has grown,&#8221; said <strong>Malcolm Collum<\/strong>, <em>Smithsonian<\/em> conservator.<\/p>\n<p>The ship has been restored to what it looked like during the filming of <em>The Trouble with Tribbles<\/em> episode. &#8220;This is a fifty-year-old model,&#8221; said Collum, explaining the need for restoration. &#8220;It was starting to show its age. It made me really nervous. It could have catastrophically fallen apart.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The restoration was finished in time for the celebration of the <em>Air and Space Museum<\/em>&#8216;s fortieth birthday.
