{"id":43845,"date":"2016-07-06T11:34:36","date_gmt":"2016-07-06T18:34:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=43845"},"modified":"2016-07-06T11:34:36","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T18:34:36","slug":"smithsonian-enterprise-renovation-documentary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2016\/07\/smithsonian-enterprise-renovation-documentary\/","title":{"rendered":"Smithsonian Enterprise Renovation Documentary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A two-hour documentary on the restoration of the<em> USS Enterprise<\/em> model restoration will air in September.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;<em>Smithsonian Channel<\/em> will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of <em>Star Trek<\/em> with a two-hour special that will take a look at the lasting influence the original <em>Star Trek<\/em> series has had on the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Building Star Trek<\/em> &#8220;will follow the conservation team from the <em>Smithsonian&#8217;s National Air and Space Museum<\/em> as they attempt to restore and conserve the original eleven-foot, two-hundred-and-fifty-pound model of the U.S.S. Enterprise from the original series. The special also will track the effort to rebuild a model of the original <em>U.S.S.
