The audio drama Starship Excelsior<\/em> has announced the release of its latest episode, Tomorrow’s Excelsior<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The USS Excelsior<\/em> is “on a two-year mission of exploration on the far side of the galaxy,” having arrived there after “passing through [an] ancient Iconian Gateway.”<\/p>\n

In Tomorrow’s Excelsior<\/em>, “Five decades after the U.S.S. Enterprise<\/em>‘s five-year mission, the Starship Excelsior<\/em>, NCC-2000, is patrolling the Romulan Neutral Zone, her crew in mourning after a devastating loss. When the Excelsior<\/em> receives an impossible distress call, from a ship claiming to be the Starship Excelsior<\/em>, NCC-2000-C, her legendary crew is drawn into a crisis that threatens the galaxy — past, present, and future!”<\/p>\n

Half a dozen familiar Trek names are associated with the production, including two regulars from the original series, and various guest stars from the original series (including movies) and from Star Trek: Voyager<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“Making Tomorrow’s Excelsior<\/em> for the Fiftieth Anniversary was a tremendous privilege and joy for all of us at Starship Excelsior,<\/em> and we are humongously grateful to everyone, from donors to actors to audio engineers, who helped make this episode a reality,” said a representative for the production. “We are especially grateful that CBS<\/em> generously tolerated this project at the time it was undertaken. CBS<\/em> has recently asked fans to refrain from making future episodes with professional Star Trek<\/em> actors, and we pledge to abide by that request. We hope all Star Trek<\/em> fans enjoy this one-off Fiftieth Anniversary special episode as much as we enjoyed creating it.”<\/p>\n
