A new memoir on Michael Westmore<\/strong>, Makeup Man: From Rocky to Star Trek The Amazing Creations of Hollywood’s Michael Westmore<\/em>, will be released on March 1.<\/p>\n

The Westmore family has been a fixture in Hollywood’s makeup departments since 1917. In this memoir, “Michael Westmore not only regales us with tales of Hollywood’s golden age, but also from his own career where he notably transformed Sylvester Stallone<\/strong> into Rocky Balboa and Robert DiNiro<\/strong> into Jake LaMotta, among many other makeup miracles.<\/p>\n

“Westmore’s talent as a makeup artist first became apparent when he created impenetrable disguises for Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Burt Lancaster, Robert Mitchum<\/strong>, and Frank Sinatra<\/strong> for the 1963 film The List of Adrian Messenger<\/em>. He later went on to become the preferred makeup man for Bobby Darin <\/strong>and Elizabeth Taylor<\/strong>, and worked on such movies and TV shows as The Munsters, Rosemary\u2019s Baby, Eleanor and Franklin, New York, New York, 2010: A Space Odyssey<\/em>, and Mask<\/em>, for which he won an Academy Award.”<\/p>\n

When it came to Star Trek<\/em>, Westmore created “hundreds” of aliens for over six hundred Star Trek<\/em> episodes from The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager,<\/em> and Enterprise<\/em>. Westmore won several Emmys<\/em> for his work in The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine<\/em> and Voyager<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In this book, readers will learn that Bette Davis<\/strong> preferred being made-up in the nude, and Shelley Winters<\/strong> fortified herself with drinks taken from a “little bottle” while she was on set.<\/p>\n
