{"id":46264,"date":"2017-06-30T11:44:46","date_gmt":"2017-06-30T18:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=46264"},"modified":"2017-06-30T11:44:46","modified_gmt":"2017-06-30T18:44:46","slug":"marsters-i-blew-shinzon-role-audition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2017\/06\/marsters-i-blew-shinzon-role-audition\/","title":{"rendered":"Marsters: I Blew Shinzon Role Audition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em> actor<strong> James Marsters<\/strong> has always been a big sci-fi fan, and admitted to coming to conventions as a young teen dressed as Spock.<\/p>\n<p>The actor was also a huge fan of<strong> Sir Patrick Stewart<\/strong>, which worked against him when auditioning for the role of the Picard clone, Shinzon in <em>Star Trek: Nemesis.<\/em> &#8220;I just had to read the part,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It was basically mine. I was horrible. I was God-awful in the audition, because I was fanboying out so hard to be in the same room with Jean-Luc Picard. I could see [Stewart&#8217;s] face and he was pulling for me. He&#8217;s trying to get me to act with him. And I could see in his eyes, &#8216;Wow this is not working at all.
