{"id":47018,"date":"2017-10-17T10:11:27","date_gmt":"2017-10-17T17:11:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=47018"},"modified":"2017-10-17T10:11:27","modified_gmt":"2017-10-17T17:11:27","slug":"yeoh-weinstein-wasnt-honorable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2017\/10\/yeoh-weinstein-wasnt-honorable\/","title":{"rendered":"Yeoh: Weinstein Wasn&#8217;t Honorable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Star Trek: Discovery<\/em>&#8216;s<strong> Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> was aware of <strong>Harvey Weinstein<\/strong>&#8216;s bad reputation in Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>Weinstein&#8217;s company was one of the producers of <em>Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny<\/em>, in which Yeoh reprised her role of Yu Shu Lien from 2000&#8217;s <em>Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon<\/em>. The <em>Weinstein Co<\/em>. also produced <em>Netflix&#8217;s Marco Polo<\/em> series, in which Yeoh had a role.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Any man who treats women with such disrespect and contempt should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,&#8221; said Yeoh. &#8220;&#8221;I knew he was a bully and not always honorable. I wasn&#8217;t exposed to this side of him; otherwise he would have experienced the full effect of years of martial arts training.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another actress from 2000&#8217;s <em>Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon<\/em> successfully dodged Weinstein, but at a cost. &#8220;I feel lucky to have escaped working with Harvey Weinstein, even though it wasn&#8217;t from lack of trying on his part,&#8221; said<strong> Zhang Ziyi<\/strong>. &#8220;The deals he offered were always balanced in his favor and I couldn&#8217;t accept them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One of those deals included a role on the <em>Crouching Tiger<\/em> sequel.
