Abrams<\/strong> movies have created a new audience, according to Koenig. &#8220;[Abrams] changed the format to compete with the other multi-hundred million dollar projects that use computer-graphics sensibly,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s now more of a phenomenon \u2013 a visual, sensory experience, rather than an emotional experience. These new <em>Star Trek<\/em> followers are there for the thrill and that&#8217;s fine, but it seems like they&#8217;re not necessarily looking for something that speaks to their sense of humanity and a sense of personal investment in the statement of an optimistic world that the audiences in the &#8217;60s did when we were relying almost exclusively on story and relationships.
