{"id":47071,"date":"2017-10-25T11:13:52","date_gmt":"2017-10-25T18:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=47071"},"modified":"2017-10-25T11:13:52","modified_gmt":"2017-10-25T18:13:52","slug":"takei-to-receive-awff-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2017\/10\/takei-to-receive-awff-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Takei To Receive AWFF Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The original series&#8217; <strong>George Takei<\/strong> will receive an award at this year&#8217;s<em> Asian World Film Festival<\/em>, which begins today and ends November 2.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Asian World Film Festival<\/em> (<em>AWFF<\/em>) &#8220;brings the best of a broad selection of Asian World cinema to Los Angeles in order to draw greater recognition to the region&#8217;s wealth of filmmakers, strengthening ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The actor will receive a lifetime achievement award after his <em>Allegiance<\/em> film closes the festival on November 2.<\/p>\n<p>Takei is &#8220;an amazing human being, which is why we consider him the perfect candidate for our <em>Lifetime Achievement Award<\/em>,&#8221; said<strong> Georges Chamchoum<\/strong>, <em>AWFF&#8217;<\/em>s executive director.
