Abrams<\/strong> and <em>Paramount<\/em> and a surprising request has emerged.<\/p>\n<p>Tarantino spent &#8220;hours in a writers&#8217; room&#8221; with <strong>Mark L. Smith, Lindsey Beer,<\/strong> and <strong>Drew Pearce<\/strong> (<em>Iron Man 3<\/em>), where ideas on a new Trek film were suggested. Supposedly, one of the four will get the job, with<em> Deadline<\/em> saying that Smith (<em>The Revenant<\/em>) is the frontrunner.<\/p>\n<p>There was a surprising request from Tarantino, namely that the film be R-rated, not the usual PG-13. It&#8217;s not surprising because of Tarantino&#8217;s past; his movies have plenty of violence and R-rated scenes, but because this would be a first for a Star Trek film.<\/p>\n<p>Tarantino was also interested in directing the film.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deadline is again reporting on the Quentin Tarantino pitch to J.J.
