{"id":48085,"date":"2018-03-29T13:23:41","date_gmt":"2018-03-29T20:23:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=48085"},"modified":"2018-03-29T13:23:41","modified_gmt":"2018-03-29T20:23:41","slug":"star-trek-blackpool-exhibition-saved-by-trek-fan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2018\/03\/star-trek-blackpool-exhibition-saved-by-trek-fan\/","title":{"rendered":"Star Trek Blackpool Exhibition Saved By Trek Fan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Star Trek Exhibition on the Promenade<\/em> was in danger of closing until a <em>Star Trek<\/em> fan came to the rescue.<\/p>\n<p><em>Kuma Exhibitions<\/em>, the parent company of <em>The Star Trek Exhibition<\/em> <em>on the Promenade<\/em> went into liquidation last fall putting the popular (10,000 attendees) exhibition in jeopardy. But the exhibition manager reached out to Trek fan <strong>Martin Netter<\/strong>. Netter &#8220;owns the largest collection of <em>Star Trek<\/em> memorabilia in the world and provided many of the props currently on display at the exhibition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was already involved from the beginning,&#8221; said Netter. &#8220;I helped the company with planning and last year we had the bad situation that they went out of business, so somebody had to do something.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m happy to bring an exhibition to the public and I think Blackpool is a good place for it. You have all the tourists. It&#8217;s much better to do business here than in London where it is more difficult to cover running costs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Star Trek<\/em> is a huge fandom, with fans from old to young, from poor to very rich. I would like to make it even more special for Blackpool so I will need to be here.
