William Shatner<\/strong> paid a visit to the Star Trek: Original Series Set Tour<\/em> in Ticonderoga, New York over the weekend as part of the William Shatner Weekend<\/em>.<\/p>\n

On Friday and Saturday, Shatner arrived and had a private chat with VIPs, a press conference, Captain’s Chair photos and autograph time. On Saturday, he also gave a Live on Stage t<\/em>alk in the auditorium of Ticonderoga High School.<\/em><\/p>\n

Over one thousand fans, some in costume, attended the event, some coming from as far away as Switzerland and Brazil. Also in attendance were Denise <\/strong>and Michael Okuda, Doug Drexler<\/strong>, and Daren Dochterman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Shatner enjoyed the set, saying “This set is exactly the way it was fifty-odd years ago. And it’s like coming back to a house that you might have been born in and go look around and you see it: ‘Wow, it’s bigger and smaller than I remember, and yet it’s the same.’ So, if you\u2019re interested in Star Trek<\/em>, this is extraordinary.”<\/p>\n

When asked what how James T. Kirk might age along with Shatner, he said, “What would I do now? Quite different, I think, because fifty years have gone by. If I weren’t going to do something different fifty years later, I’d be stuck in a time warp, and that\u2019s too science fiction-y for me. So, the evolution of the human being…if you’re a good actor you bring all that you have lived. I was quite callow in those years and, fifty years later, I have more depth, having lived, and I’d hopefully bring something more.”<\/p>\n

James Cawley<\/strong>, who created the set, said “To grow up watching William Shatner<\/strong> on the Enterprise,<\/em> on the show, and now to see him here, on these sets, in the same environment…It’s amazing to see it and share the moment with so many people, just even from a fan perspective.”<\/p>\n
