Once again, there is a showrunner change at Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> as Gretchen Berg<\/strong> and Aaron Harberts<\/strong> are departing the show. The first showrunner to leave was Bryan Fuller,<\/strong>\u00a0 who left Discovery<\/em> several months before its premiere when the show was in pre-production.<\/p>\n

In a statement from CBS Television Studios, CBS<\/em> said, “We’ve made some producer changes at Star Trek: Discovery<\/em>. The series continues under the creative vision and leadership of executive producer and co-creator Alex Kurtzman<\/strong>. Discovery<\/em> remains on course for season two in 2019 with new and continuing stories that build on its successful premiere season.”<\/p>\n

The decision to let the duo go was based on “leadership and operational” issues; which included going over budget and alleged harassment of the writing staff to the point where the writers were “said to have been uncomfortable working on the series and had threatened to file a complaint with human resources or quit the series altogether before informing Kurtzman of the issues surrounding Berg and Harberts.” To add insult to injury, “after hearing rumors of HR complaints, Harberts is said to have made imposing remarks to the staff to keep concerns with the production an internal matter.”<\/p>\n

Berg and Harberts will depart after the fifth episode of Season Two, after which there is to be a “planned production hiatus.” The change should not affect production on the show.<\/p>\n

Executive Producer Akiva Goldsman<\/strong> will also be leaving. The cause of his departure is said to be a “management style and personality that clashed with the writing staff.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
