CBS All Access <\/em>is growing and Star Trek<\/em> is and will continue to be an important part of that growth.<\/p>\n

There are approximately 2,500,000 subscribers as CBS All Access<\/em> nears its fourth birthday, for a one hundred percent gain in subscribers.<\/p>\n

But CBS<\/em> wants CBS All Access<\/em> to grow even more. So they want to be airing ten original series by 2019, including Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> and the newly-announced show featuring Sir Patrick Stewart<\/strong> reprising his role of Jean-Luc Picard.<\/p>\n

But that’s not all the Trek that is planned. CBS<\/em>‘s EVP for Original Content, Julie McNamara<\/strong>, had this to say. “We’re looking at limited series for some Trek shows and we are looking at ongoing series for some other Trek shows. We’ve obviously announced the one that’s coming next with Sir Patrick Stewart but we have more in development there.”<\/p>\n

There has even been discussion about a series with Michelle Yeoh<\/strong>. “We’ve really talked about virtually all of the characters who popped in Discovery<\/em> as potential spin-off shows,” said McNamara. “It’s obviously very much driven by our conversations with Alex Kurtzman<\/strong>‘s Secret Hideout<\/em> and the other creators involved. I wouldn’t say at this point that we are actively pursuing a Michelle Yeoh series but it has been discussed.”<\/p>\n

Rainn Wilson<\/strong>‘s Harry Mudd is also a possibility for a Trek series. “He definitely falls in that category of it could be interesting to build around this character,” said McNamara. “But, I will say, it hasn’t progressed any further than that.”<\/p>\n

“My goal is that there should be a Star Trek<\/em> something on all the time on All Access,<\/em>” said CBS TV Studios<\/em> president David Stapf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
