The Creative Arts Emmys <\/em>ceremony took place over the weekend with Star Trek<\/em> actors from all of the shows on hand for the event.<\/p>\n

The Governor’s Award<\/em> was presented on September 8, which just happens to be the day that the original series premiered back in 1966.<\/p>\n

William Shatner<\/strong> and Sonequa Martin-Green<\/strong> accepted the award on behalf of Star Trek. Star Trek<\/em> “represents an idea that is greater than all of its parts,” said Shatner. “I accept this award for all the artists who have worked to make this show a success.”<\/p>\n

“It may have started off as an entertainment series,” said Bill Nye,<\/strong> who presented the award, “but it changed the world \u2013 and I feel that it changed the world for the better.”<\/p>\n

In attendance at the ceremony were William Shatner, Walter Koenig, LeVar Burton, Terry Farrell, Jeri Ryan, Linda Park, Sonequa Martin-Green<\/strong>, and Alex Kurtzman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Star Trek<\/em> “resonates because we were talking about topical issues and socio-political content,” said Koenig. “We still worry about living together and having a fruitful and joyful experience. We are beset with problems that we had in the Sixties.”<\/p>\n

Star Trek<\/em> “has been a beacon of hope for so many people for so long,” said Kurtzman. “In dark times, we need that hope.”<\/p>\n

“It’s all about good storytelling,” said Burton.<\/p>\n

Martin-Green, speaking about Discovery,<\/em> said that “it was very important to us” to do justice to the Star Trek<\/em> name, “but be our own at the same time.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
