Although many fans are looking forward to the new Star Trek<\/em> shows in the pipeline, some are worried that there may be too much going on at the same time.<\/p>\n

According to Julie McNamara<\/strong>, executive vice president of original content, CBS All Access<\/em>, don’t worry. “There’s no benefit to just pushing out into the marketplace tons of Star Trek<\/em> content,” she said. “That’s not our intention. We’re looking to mine it wisely and effectively.”<\/p>\n

So far, we’ve heard about the new Sir Patrick Stewart<\/strong> show, a new show featuring Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> as Philippa Georgiou, Lower Decks<\/em>, another animated series, and two more Short Treks.<\/p>\n

McNamara added that the Picard series doesn’t arrive until the end of this year, and Yeoh’s series is only in development, with no date set. Yeoh fans will be able to enjoy her in Season Two of Discovery<\/em>, which began last night; while it was overheard at last night’s red carpet event that she would be in Season Three as well.<\/p>\n

And Lower Decks<\/em> is at least a year away, as the animation will take a year to do.<\/p>\n

“When I look at how the schedule is theoretically laying out on my desk,” said McNamara, “it does not feel like it’s one after another.<\/p>\n

“Some of these can be considered as replacements as opposed to additions. These Trek shows take a lot of incubation, because they’re very prep heavy, visual effects heavy…we’re seeing it more as we’re getting a good jump on making sure that there is a good fulsome stream of Trek material.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
