{"id":49962,"date":"2019-01-30T17:09:58","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T01:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=49962"},"modified":"2019-01-30T17:09:58","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T01:09:58","slug":"stewart-aging-picard-and-hopes-for-multiple-seasons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2019\/01\/stewart-aging-picard-and-hopes-for-multiple-seasons\/","title":{"rendered":"Stewart: Aging Picard And Hopes For Multiple Seasons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While doing press for his new movie, <em>The Kid Who Would Be King<\/em>, <strong>Sir Patrick Stewart<\/strong> spoke to<em> Yahoo Entertainment<\/em> where he spoke about his new <em>Star Trek<\/em> show.<\/p>\n<p>The actor explained how that he was &#8220;extremely interested&#8221; in the story ideas that he heard when he went in for his first meeting. &#8220;I still wanted to know more.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stewart got his answers, which satisfied him, and he signed on to the project. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been in the writers&#8217; room for a total of three weeks in the last couple of months,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The work that&#8217;s being done there is extraordinary; basically, I just sit and listen. I mean, these clever guys, ideas going backwards and forwards&#8230;and what we have coming up is exciting.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s exciting for me because it excites me as an actor. Oh, the story is great. And \u2013 I could be so careful what I say or they&#8217;ll skin me alive if I say the wrong things. But it&#8217;s&#8230;it has a&#8230;it references the present day at times, and that&#8217;s all I can say, really. I&#8217;m not saying we are in the present day. We&#8217;re not. But the world that we find Jean-Luc Picard in is not quite the world that we left him in.<\/p>\n<p>According to Stewart, the new series will tell one long story. &#8220;They are writing a ten-hour movie,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We&#8217;re hoping for more than one season.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stewart warns fans to not expect the aged Picard as seen in the <em>Next Generation<\/em> finale. &#8220;I remember vividly those scenes in&#8230;the episode was called <em>All Good Things<\/em>,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I grew a beard, and they made me up.
