The days are getting longer and that means it’s time for the annual Shore Leave Convention. Shore Leave 41<\/em> will take place July 12-14 at the Delta Hotels Baltimore<\/em> in Hunt Valley, Maryland.<\/p>\n

For Trek fans, there are three actors who will be in attendance. Nichelle Nichols<\/strong> will be there for the last time, as this is her final year of conventions. She will provide photo ops and autographs only.\u00a0 Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> fans will enjoy seeing Anson Mount<\/strong> (Pike) and Ethan Peck<\/strong> (Spock) who will also be appearing on Saturday and Sunday only.<\/p>\n

Others appearing this year at Shore Leave 41<\/em> will be Michael Shanks, Lexa Doig, John Glover, Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore, Laura Vandervoort,<\/strong> and Alex Mallari<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Science guests include David Batchelor<\/strong> of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA Heliophysics Ambassador<\/em> Wayne Bird<\/strong>, National Radio Astronomy Observatory<\/em>‘s Charles Blue<\/strong>, Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Operations Project Scientist<\/em> Kenneth G. Carpenter<\/strong>, NASA Near-Earth Object Observations Program Manager<\/em> Kelly Fast<\/strong>, Astronomer Jerry Feldman<\/strong>, NASA’s Planetary Defense Officer and Program Executive<\/em> Lindley Johnson<\/strong>, Stephanie J. Slater<\/strong>, Timothy F. Slater<\/strong>, Engineer Mark Sumner<\/strong>, Ray Villard, Ariel Vitali, Brent A. Warner<\/strong> and NASA Solar Astrophysicist<\/em> C. Alex Young<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So what else is there to do at Shore Leave 41<\/em> other than seeing your favorite actors and attending neat science panels? Well there is the Friday night 10 PM “Meet the Pros” event, where you can meet your favorite Trek\/Sci-fi authors and get those books signed (and also meet the manager of TrekBBS<\/em>, who hangs with them at the event). There will be over three dozen authors there including: Danielle Ackley-McPhail, Rigel Ailur, Lorraine Anderson, Derek Tyler Attico, Diane Lee Baron, Christopher L. Bennett, T.A. Chafin, John Coffren, Russ Colchamiro, Greg Cox, Kathleen and Peter A. David, Keith R.A. DeCandido, Mary Fan, Kelli Fitzpatrick, Michael Jan Friedman, Dave Galanter, Phil Giunta, Bob Greenberger, Glenn Hauman, Kim Headlee, Andrew Hiller, Heather E. Hutsell, Amy Imhoff, Jim Johnson, David Mack, Mike McPhail, Kelly Meding, Susan Olesen, Joshua Palmatier, T.J. Perkins, Roberta Rogow, Aaron Rosenberg, Jenifer P. Rosenberg, Hildy Silverman, Dayton Ward, Laura Ware, Howard Weinstein, Richard C. White<\/strong>, and Steven H. Wilson.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Other events include the Tardis Photo Booth, Vic’s Place, the Tenth Annual Robbie Greenberger Memorial Texas Hold-em Poker Tournament, Ten Forward,<\/em> filking, and a game room!<\/p>\n

The big event is the Shore Leave Masquerade<\/em>, when fans young and old alike, dress up as their favorite characters. Described as “A little like a beauty pageant, a little like a talent show;” it is always amazing to see the talent on display. This event takes place Saturday night.<\/p>\n

There are also fun workshops on writing, costuming, Puppy Parenting, Basic Self-Defense<\/em> and more.<\/p>\n

Be sure to drop in on the Art Show<\/em>, and come by again when the judging takes place on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Weather permitting, fans can stargaze Friday and\/or Saturday night out on the tennis courts.<\/p>\n
