A documentary about Nichelle Nichols<\/strong>‘ successful efforts to bring in women and minorities to NASA<\/em> will screen at The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival<\/em> in Chagrin Falls, Ohio (east of Cleveland, Ohio) on Oct 3 and October 6.<\/p>\n

Here is the description of the documentary: “In 1977, with just four months left, NASA<\/em> struggles to recruit scientists, engineers and astronauts for their new Space Shuttle Program. That is when Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek<\/em>‘s Lt. Uhura, challenges them by asking the question: Where are my people? She embarks on a national blitz, recruiting eight thousand of the nation’s best and brightest, including the trailblazing astronauts who became the first African-American, Asian and Latino men and women to fly in space.”<\/p>\n

Amongst those appearing in Women in Motion<\/em> are familiar Trek names, including Nichols, Michael Dorn, George Takei, Walter Koenig, Rod Roddenberry, D.C. Fontana, <\/em>and David Gerrold<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“It’s an uplifting, inspiring story about how one woman can make a difference,” said Todd Thompson<\/strong>, who made the film. “If she can do it, so can you.<\/p>\n

“It was an honor working with Nichelle and being able to tell her story. She is amazing. What she’s done, the world needs to know about.”<\/p>\n

Women in Motion<\/em> is “currently being shopped for national distribution.”<\/p>\n
