{"id":51734,"date":"2019-11-08T13:00:58","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T21:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=51734"},"modified":"2019-11-07T22:29:13","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T06:29:13","slug":"takei-to-receive-award-next-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2019\/11\/takei-to-receive-award-next-february\/","title":{"rendered":"Takei To Receive Award Next February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The original series&#8217;<strong> George Takei<\/strong> will receive an award on February 18, 2020 from the<em> International Festival of Arts and Ideas<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The award is the &#8220;<em>10th Annual Visual Leadership Award<\/em>,&#8221; presented to &#8220;a leader whose trailblazing work is impacting the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Taking place at the <em>Omni New Haven Hotel<\/em> at Yale, the annual award luncheon &#8220;draws more than four hundred attendees from across the region and raises money for the <em>Festival<\/em>&#8216;s diverse roster of programming presented in June each year. Proceeds from the Award Luncheon support work that represents the values and passion of <strong>Jean Handley<\/strong>, including world and U.S. premieres and community-centered performances.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are honored to present our <em>2020 Visionary Leadership Award<\/em> to George Takei,&#8221; said F<em>estival<\/em> Co-Directors <strong>Liz Fisher<\/strong> and <strong>Tom Griggs<\/strong>. &#8220;With a career well into its sixth decade, he shows no sign of slowing down.
